Community Announcement: Catalytic Converter Theft on Huntsman Blvd

Unfortunately, there has been a recent incident that occurred within Shannon Station. On an early morning last month, a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle parked on Huntsman Blvd.

Catalytic converter thefts have unfortunately become a prevalent issue across the country, and our community is not immune to such incidents. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard their property.

Here are some safety tips to help prevent further incidents:

1. Park in Well-Lit Areas: Whenever possible, park your vehicle in well-lit areas with good visibility. Thieves are less likely to target vehicles in locations where they can be easily seen.

2. Install Security Cameras: There have been a lot of questions about owners installing cameras. Owners can install doorbells cameras freely, but also in common areas not facing private property. If you have questions about a location, please ask the board at a HOA meeting, or at shannonstationboard@gmail.com. Cameras can act as deterrents and provide valuable evidence in case of an incident.

3. Use Anti-Theft Devices: Invest in anti-theft devices such as steering wheel locks or catalytic converter locks. These can make it more difficult for thieves to target your vehicle.

4. Be Mindful of Your Surroundings: Report any suspicious activity or individuals loitering around vehicles to local law enforcement immediately. Your vigilance can help prevent future incidents.

5. Community Watch: Stay connected with your neighbors and encourage a sense of community watch. Share information about recent incidents and work together to enhance security measures.

If you have any information related to the recent catalytic converter theft or notice anything unusual in the area, please contact West Springfield District Police at (703) 644-7377. Your cooperation is vital in ensuring the safety and security of our community.

We understand the concern this incident may raise and assure you that we are working closely with law enforcement to address the situation. Additionally, we will be exploring additional security measures to enhance the overall safety of our community.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our community a safe place to live.
